A new playground for Netherton Infants School

simon lawson netherton primary school

We were excited to be involved with providing a new playground, with artificial grass and a new fence, for the children of Netherton Infants School in Maryport, which was opened by Maryport Paralympian Simon Lawson. Coombe and Sharpe undertook this project and Alan Sharpe, who was present at the opening to hand over the facility, commented that the company would be donating some play equipment too.

Headteacher Lynn Millingham said the new playground is “an exciting opportunity for the children to get active”.  She added that the new playground would be usable in all weathers, provided more space and also a designated area for sports.

See the Times & Star article and video about the opening.

Coombe & Sharpe provides new play surface for St Bees Village Primary School – posted September 2017

Artificial turf Coombe and Sharpe

When we heard that the children at St Bees Village Primary School were having problems with the surface in their play area, which was putting a black sticky deposit onto clothes and toys, we stepped in with a new artificial turf finish,  so that the children can play outdoors at any time of the year in a safe, clean environment. It’s a gesture from Coombe & Sharpe’s directors to the St Bees community which we hope the youngsters will enjoy for years to come.

Artificial turf is astonishingly realistic and a great solution for a whole range of outside spaces – find out more about our artificial turf projects.

In July 2016 Coombe and Sharpe sponsored  a charity  event at the Seacote Hotel in St Bees in conjunction with CFM Radio.

The aim was to raise funds for Moor Row Football Club, a local club which runs activities for youngsters to get them involved with sport. The guest of honour was Stuart Pearce, retired England football veteran.

The Coombe and Sharpe team went along to support the event and enjoyed listening to Stuart as he talked about his career and the state of football today. We are proud to support local charities and the lads had a good evening at the same time.

Coombe & Sharpe were delighted to sponsor the Mini Colour Run for Hospice at Home West Cumbria at Jericho Primary School. Colour Run for Hospice at Home West Cumbria
Over 240 pupils aged from 3 to 11 took part in the race which was started by Paul Coombe, partner and director at Coombe & Sharpe.

Jericho’s headteacher Shaun Monaghan said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be supporting Hospice at Home West Cumbria by taking part in this innovative event. Many of our families have been touched in some way by the charity and lots of our teaching staff care deeply about the cause. Our children are always up for some excitement and fun but they are also a very caring lot and they enjoy raising money for people in need.”

Christina Cremins, HHWC’s marketing manager said: “We are overwhelmed at the amount of money the Jericho School children have raised through their colour run, £5,000 really is outstanding! It was fantastic to see the whole school get behind the event and put so much effort in to supporting our cause. A big thank you to sponsors Coombe & Sharpe who ensured that every penny raised on the day went to our cause.”

Paul Coombe said of the event: “We were delighted to sponsor today’s event and it’s been great to come down and see all the kids taking part and having fun. We started our company 28 years ago and in that time we have done lots of work in the area, helping us to slowly expand and get to where we are today. It’s so important that businesses get involved in community activities like this – it’s great to be able to give something back.”

The team have had the same kit for the last few years and so the boys were really pleased when they heard the news. Alan and Paul recognise how important it is to give back to the community and with Alan now living in St. Bees, they thought this would be a good thing to do for local children.
